'Glacial Potholes' 20"X24"
I have been a visual artist since the 1970’s. Currently my work is in B&W photography using medium format cameras. I have studied under Jerry Liebling at Hampshire College and attended and conducted numerous photographic workshops. My most recent exhibits include Forbes Library in Northampton, Mass. and the Massachusetts Statehouse in Boston. I have exhibited throughout New England and sold to Fortune 500 companies.
“With camera in hand, I find myself at a place in time capturing the spirit of composition in one still photograph. I think I see in my mind's eye something that is not literally there in the true meaning of the word. I'm interested in something which is built up from within, rather than just extracted from without. Color masks our perception of visual composition. My work awakens ways for viewers to see the intrinsic value of shapes and their relationship to one another”.
Even before I put an image on film, I have already determined size of the final print and framing possibilities. I hand-tint some of my images and most recently have incorporated wooden windows into my work. These installations depict what a viewer might see looking through an ordinary window in their house.
